What is the Distillery University Certification Program?
The Certification Program is a series of exams covering nine key spirit types. It allows you to validate your knowledge, earn certificates, and achieve prestigious titles and lapel pins as you progress through three levels of Spirit Ambassador.
How many exams are there and what do they cover?
There are nine exams, each covering a different spirit type: whiskey, vodka, gin, brandy, rum, tequila, bourbon, scotch, and liqueurs. Each exam includes 100 multiple-choice questions.
Can I take the exams in any order?
Yes, you can take the tests in any order you prefer. You may also take as many or as few exams as you wish.
What are the Spirit Ambassador levels?
The Spirit Ambassador levels are titles awarded based on the number of exams you complete:
- Level 1: Complete any 3 exams
- Level 2: Complete any 6 exams
- Level 3: Complete all 9 exams
What do I receive upon passing an exam?
Upon passing an exam, you will receive a downloadable certificate and, upon reaching each Spirit Ambassador level, an exclusive lapel pin.
What is the cost of each exam?
Each individual exam costs $89.

What if I don't pass an exam?
You can retake any exam for a $25 retake fee.

No, there is no time limit. You can complete the exams at your own pace.
